#35 - The Flower
You wait in line for the next teller, hand thrust in your pocket, jangling your car keys impatiently.
“Come on, come on”, you mutter under your breath. “It’s not like I don’t anything else to do today.”
The woman in front of you glances back over her shoulder, and you react with your best “what-the-hell-are-you-looking-at?” glare. You finally make it to the front of the line, and the next available teller chirps a cheerful, “May I help you?”
“Yes, you can help me”, you respond patronizingly. “You can explain to me why, if bank managers are so good at math, they have eight windows and only three tellers.”
She looks at you in confusion. “Excuse me?”
“Never mind. Let’s just make that high school diploma of yours pay off and take care of this transaction, shall we?”
She raises her eyebrows and exhales wearily. “Yes, sir.”
Why the attitude? Is it so much to ask for people to do their jobs, and to do them perfectly? It’s what they get paid to do. If you don’t like your job, get married and have a bunch of kids, cook dinner, and let your husband bust his ass to support you.
Walking back to your car you flip open your cell phone to accept an incoming call...
Role models are where you find them - and you sometimes find them in the oddest places...
