Digital Stained Glass

'Digital Stained Glass'? What on earth is that?

What I refer to as "Digital Stained Glass" (let's just refer to it as 'DSG') utilizes an intricate type of graphic I developed that I refer to as "phosphenes", colorful patterns that look as though displayed on some sort of super kaleidoscope. By creating window film with these amazing patterns, a look similar to stained glass can be achieved.  While not meant to be able to compete with true stained glass windows at an artistic level, there are some advantages to DSG: The first is the level of intricacy involved; DSG can offer a huge range of colors, with a level of detail not possible with traditional stained glass. The second advantage is cost; while hand-formed stained glass work begins at around $100 per square foot, DSG runs in the neighborhood of $6 per square foot. Again, not the prestige of real stained glass, but far more detailed and much, much more affordable.

I've also made phosphenes available as stand-alone prints
