#26 - The Horse Lover
At worst, you’re excruciatingly mediocre. At best you’re…excruciatingly mediocre. Average. Boring. No more, no less. You’re not stupid, but you don’t do all that well in school. You’ve managed by some miracle to make it to your senior year with mostly C’s, a few D’s, with enough B’s spread thinly throughout the year to keep your GPA just above 2.0. You stare out windows and daydream, wishing you were anywhere else but here. You do okay in Phy Ed, but don’t excel in any sports. You’re not supermodel beautiful, but you’re not ugly; your strawberry blonde hair and pale skin are accentuated by green eyes that peer out through the raccoon mask of freckles across your face. While everyone else is wearing the very latest the mall has to offer, you come to school in jeans and a plain cotton blouse. The other students don’t make fun of you, but you couldn’t really call any of them your friends - for the most part, you’re invisible to those around you.
Your only real friends are outside the school grounds, in the pastures that line the two-lane road leading to your house. You walk over to the fence line, whistling and clapping your hands to draw the attention of a big chestnut quarter horse and a leopard Appaloosa...
