#27 - The Housewife
You love your family – you really, really do. Although you occasionally grumble about doing dishes, or vacuuming, or making beds, you wouldn’t trade it for the world. You could have continued on for your master’s degree and taken a position paying somewhere in the high five figures, but you chose this life instead. You’re content dressing scraped knees, doing laundry, ferrying kids to karate practice, and running errands (“Remember mom – I need the red footpads, not the blue ones – and can you buy me some nunchucks? Whaddaya’ mean I’m not old enough?”).
It’s a good life and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Well, not permanently at least. Your only wish is that your life wasn’t quite so mundane. Every day it’s the same old routine:
“Mom, where’s my backpack – I’m gonna’ miss the bus.”
“Honey, do I have any clean boxers?”
“Mom, Kevin’s hitting back!”
Kids squabbling about the same thing every day. Same dust on the same old bookshelves. Same idiotic soap operas with the same unbelievable plots on TV every day when you sit down to eat your lunch. Just once you wish something would change – anything at all...
Come on, admit it - Just once, you'd like to have some wild adventure. Something that would send you right to the brink, something where you would stare into the abyss and live to remember it...
