#38 - Revenge
“Hey – can somebody get this kid away from the car?”
“That’s my ‘kid’” you inform the salesman, “and he wasn’t touching the Murcielago.”
“My apologies sir. You obviously have exquisite taste in fine motorcars. Is there something I can show you?”
You draw your son closer to you. “No thanks. He’s really fascinated by these cars; I promised next time I had a day off, I’d bring him to take a look at them.”
The salesman glares at you with disdain. “Yeah, cute. Have a nice day.” He turns and walks away, heading towards a distinguished looking older gentleman sporting a yachting cap and blue country club blazer.
Why? Why do salesmen do that? Just because you drive a ten year old minivan and don’t have fifty million in a Swiss account or a gold Rolex, is it really necessary to treat you this way? Would it kill them to just once treat you like a human being, instead of some lower life form...
Someone once said that "Revenge is a dish best served cold."
You've been victimized and looked down on for the better part of your life. Too bad there's not some way to show them how it feels.
